Patagonia and eBay find common thread

eBay and Patagonia have partnered to launch the Common Threads Initiative store  - a virtual marketplace for people to buy and sell used Patagonia gear on eBay. The co-branded online store aims to make the products more sustainable by extending and closing the loop on the product’s life cycle.
 

 

Why it matters

Many brands greenwash their actions with talk of ethical consumption and sustainability. It’s one thing to say it, but brands often struggle to go through with it -  even though a consistent ethical stance throughout company culture could enhance the brand’s public perception. What other significant sustainable approaches by brands should be highlighted and replicated in other categories?

The Japanese restaurant Nihondo Kampo School, serves up a unique menu to their patrons. Guests are asked to bring traditional Chinese remedies to the restaurant for cooks to prepare a delicious and healthy meal.
 

Why it matters

A restaurant that prepares meals with an authentic  health benefit caters directly to consumer’s increasing need for truly healthy food. The concept also caters to each individual needs. Could the restaurant of the future be one where you simply choose ingredients and leave it up to the cook to make whatever inspires them?

HEROShopping is a non-profit initiative in which anyone can take part simply by shopping online. The concept is based on affiliate marketing; shoppers go to www.heroshopping.com and click through to a number of partner shops to start buying. In return for the shopping lead, the partner stores pay a ‘thank-you bonus’ (commission) to HEROShopping who transfer the funds to the United Nations World Food program and skate-aid.

Why it matters
