Making banking responsible?

Making banking responsible?

The consumer credit  company Cofidis has just launched a new signature - “From people, to people” - and changed its own brand positioning to get closer to its clients and their needs. The company is moving away from  being known for anonymous and remote loans.

Why it matters

The financial crisis has thrown many families into a very difficult situation, especially because of over indebtment and an abrupt rise in living costs. In a time where some people need credit more then ever, consumers are increasingly suspicious of the financial system. Companies like Cofidis are well aware of this and are offering much more than a loan to its clients: a service that includes not only the money needed, but also personalized financial counselling and help in household budget management. Is this the end of “blind loans” that contributed to the collapse of the banking system? Will this crisis contribute to a more responsible and sound financial system? And will this new approach last?

Virtual & social banking

Virtual & social banking
The French bank BNP Paribas launched an online bank called “La NET Agence”. This virtual bank enables clients to keep the same financial advisor without having to go into a bank branch in person. BNP goes further and also allows clients to open a bank account by tweeting to the online bank’s dedicated Twitter account.
Why it matters

BNP Paribas is enriching the client-bank relationship by introducing virtualisation of some of its services. By doing this, the company is addressing one of the main constraints facing clients today: lack of time. Social media helps the brand get greater exposure but also allows it to target a younger audience. What is the appropriate social relationship that consumers want with your brand?

Guiding the visually impaired

Guiding the visually impaired

‘Halkbank’ launched its "Reachable Bank24" project for people with physical disabilities. It allows customers to use the ATM machines on their own without needing any help. For example, visually challenged people can listen to the ATM machine talking to them through headphones.

Why it matters

The service caters mainly to blind people ,yet many service companies in different sectors do not consider people suffering from disabilities enough. Can this thoughtful act provoke other sectors to do the same?
