Sun kissed cuisine
“Sol em Sol” (Sun on Sun) is a mobile kitchen and restaurant that cooks food with solar ovens. Using seven ovens, they can cook for up to 40 people and meal prices range between 9 to 11 euros . The owners are planning to tour Portugal to get people from across the country to taste their sun-filled cuisine.
Why it matters
The concept of an outdoor, affordable, eco-friendly restaurant is an attractive one. All that is required to export the concept to other markets is sunshine and clement weather. Are they on to a recipe for success?
elBulli was a 3-star Michelin restaurant run by chef Ferran Adrià. It was described as "the most imaginative generator of haute cuisine on the planet" and was associated with molecular gastronomy. The restaurant closed on July 30, 2011 and will reopen as a creativity centre in 2014.
The foundation will be interdisciplinary. Adrià talks of a mash-up of science, arts, philosophy and technology as a "creativity-generating universe" that will produce "today's most valuable raw materials -- creativity and talent”.
The Portuguese beer brand Super Bock launched a new Facebook advertising campaign aiming to convince Mark Zuckerberg to change the “like” button to “Good”, “Great” or “Super” buttons. In a clever but perhaps risky strategy, the brand made a video ad with typography and animations typical of online social services and app ads. It only reveals itself as a sponsor of this initiative at the very end of the video with a discreet logo.
