"Speak to Tweet"
Google, in combination with Twitter and its recently acquired SayNow engineers, has released a service for tweeting without an Internet connection. Speak to Tweet allows anyone with a voice connection to dial three international numbers and have their voice messages sent out as tweets. Speak to tweet has been created in an effort to help the Egyptian & Libyan protesters to tweet without actually being connected to the internet.
Why it matters
A change in technology that leads social media into becoming a social reform. Google and Twitter are two global brands and the fact that they merged together and formed a service in order to help a local cause increases their local popularity.
