Sizzling for new cuisine
The steakhouse culture is gaining popularity in Turkey. The Nusr-Et Steakhouse is one of the leading restaurants of its kind receiving high acclaim for its quality, service and ambiance. Other establishments in this category of foods have also attracted a lot of attention recently.
Why it matters
While steakhouses might be old in the West, this type of cuisine is still relatively new in Turkey. There’s often a strong bias towards local traditional cuisine in ‘Next Eleven’ countries, but the notion of globalised cuisine might just be a trend that we need to pay attention to in those markets. What could be the next big imported taste for foodies in those countries?
Confectionary brand Solen has launched a chocolate bar that contains four different flavours of chocolate within one pack.
Throughout the summer, Coca-Cola hosted a range of activities bringing teenagers together across Israel. To ensure that these events and activities could be shared across the users’ social networks, they introduced FaceLook, an app based on Face.com that uses facial recognition technology to create Facebook posts. Users can post comments and pictures to their Facebook wall using only their face as identification.
The teenagers had to register to the events through Facebook where they could opt in to the app. Once at the venues, they were able to activate Facebook posts just by looking at the FaceLook machine. The application identified the user and posted automatic comments relating to nearby activities.
