Sizzling for new cuisine
The steakhouse culture is gaining popularity in Turkey. The Nusr-Et Steakhouse is one of the leading restaurants of its kind receiving high acclaim for its quality, service and ambiance. Other establishments in this category of foods have also attracted a lot of attention recently.
Why it matters
While steakhouses might be old in the West, this type of cuisine is still relatively new in Turkey. There’s often a strong bias towards local traditional cuisine in ‘Next Eleven’ countries, but the notion of globalised cuisine might just be a trend that we need to pay attention to in those markets. What could be the next big imported taste for foodies in those countries?
McDonald’s is planning to open its first franchise store in Amritsar, Northern India. Because the restaurant will be built near the sacred Golden Temple, where authorities forbid nearby consumption of meat, this will be the first fully vegetarian McDonald’s in the world.
Heineken rewards consumers when they check in on Foursquare at a bar, pub or club where Heineken is served. At every check-in consumers receive so called ‘e’s that can be exchanged for special offers like concert tickets.
