Sizzling for new cuisine
The steakhouse culture is gaining popularity in Turkey. The Nusr-Et Steakhouse is one of the leading restaurants of its kind receiving high acclaim for its quality, service and ambiance. Other establishments in this category of foods have also attracted a lot of attention recently.
Why it matters
While steakhouses might be old in the West, this type of cuisine is still relatively new in Turkey. There’s often a strong bias towards local traditional cuisine in ‘Next Eleven’ countries, but the notion of globalised cuisine might just be a trend that we need to pay attention to in those markets. What could be the next big imported taste for foodies in those countries?
“Le verdure del mio orto” takes the principle behind the social network game Farmville but makes it a reality. Users simply need to create and manage virtual gardens online, while the actual vegetables are being grown in a traditional way and on ecological farming land. The vegetables, chosen by each user depending on their preferences and seasonality, are then delivered to the user’s home address when harvested.
Molecule is a café in Manhattan’s East Village that only sells ‘water cocktails’. A 16-ounce glass costs $2.50 and extra vitamins and electrolytes can cost an extra $1 per serving.
