The luxury hotel Lutecia Palace in Paris launched a blog recently which bears the same name as the author: The Discreet. He is an imaginary character who shares the best secret spots on the left bank of the Seine for hotel guests to discover.
Why it matters
This is a good way to discover the real Paris, far from the main tourist attractions. The type of suggestions are catered to the tastes of the customer base that stays at the hotel.
Could you make more use of social media platforms to propose new ways to discover a city?
Renfe (the Spanish railway company) has developed a new commercial proposal called ‘escapadas’ (breakouts). These are ‘mini-holidays’ created in partnership with tour operators Iberrail, Iberojet and El Corte Inglés. They include the return ticket on High Speed trains and one night’s hotel stay in Sol Meliá, Tryp or NH. The ‘breakouts’ will be available exclusively in travel agencies and they include additional benefits such as discounts on tickets to museums and galleries, car rental and more.
Madrid’s Husa Paseo del Arte Hotel is now offering what they’re calling a ‘High Speed Pack’ which allows consumers to take advantage of the hotel’s facilities without having to spend a night in it. Guest can book in for a maximum of 5 hours for just 60€. Given that the hotel is located just 100 metres from from the Puerta de Atocha train station, this is especially useful for those just passing through.
