Opening the books on Portugal
PE Probe is a website that aggregates relevant information about Portugal’s economy and finances in English. It showcases statistics, events and documents issued by top organisations across the country. Created by the nonprofit entity Portugal Economy Probe, the website serves as a display window for the country’s assets.
Why it matters
The project is backed by renowned institutions such as the Portuguese Banking Association and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The platform is a unique example of competitors getting together for the greater good of the country. What other cooperation initiatives can competing organisations explore to improve the health of their country’s markets and economy?
“CrowdSend” is a new social network that tries to identify objects on online images. Users are encouraged to tag photos with any information they have about the products depicted and gain rewards and bonuses for correctly recognising items on the photos.
The Spanish website Bicibuscadores wants to help victims of bicycle theft spread the word when their bike is stolen and warn others. Users simply pin the location of where their bike was last seen on a map. Next, they upload a photo of it and provide as much detail as they can about the circumstances of the theft. The report then serves as a warning to other bicycle owners in the area as well as potentially helping the missing bicycle find its way back to its rightful owner.
