Happy tweet, jazzy beat
Red Bull is taking tweets and turning them into beats. A tweet is analysed and is associated to a unique sound clip that has an upbeat or downbeat sound based on the emotional sentiment of the tweet.
Why it matters
Music has always been connected to our mood. As we share our moods more and more on social media networks, can a tool such as this one make us more aware of our collective wellbeing and more importantly, can it change our behaviour?
The Netherlands Metropole Orchestra used Twitter to raise awareness of the fact that its subsidies and existence were under threat by inviting Twitter users to use their ‘Tweetphony’, a symphony of tweets.
The campaign site featured a digital piano interface that allowed participants to compose their own music and listen to others. They could then tweet it, turning the musical notes into the letters associated with the key. The orchestra will pick the most interesting tweets and play a special live concert. Short videos of the orchestra playing the tweets will also be posted on YouTube and a live stream will be broadcast.
BSkyB will launch a James Bond-only channel called Sky Movies 007. On air for a month from October 5th, it will be showing the entire James Bond catalogue to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of the first Bond movie, Dr No.
