Italian supermarket iPer La Grande has created a new sub brand iNaturale that uses social media to connect with customers about environmental issues.
Why it matters
Having a green sub brand gives retailers a new platform from which to build their environmental credentials. In the future will we see retailers with other sub brands, such as Family and Premium?
Discount retailer Aldi has set up three Hofer-branded petrol stations in Salzburg to sell discounted fuel. Managed by Free Energy, the retailer initially plans to expand its petrol offering to other locations in Austria and later roll out their discounted fuel offering across Europe.
