Diamonds are an ATM's best friend
The Gitanjali Group has set up a vending machine in an Indian luxury shopping mall that dispenses jewelry made from gold and diamonds. The products are sold at a retail price ranging between $US200 – 600.
Why it matters
An Abu Dhabi hotel was dispensing gold bullions from a vending machine last year. So it seems that the natural evolution of this would be to sell jewelry via an automated machine too. What will be the next step? Will we see banks setting up machines that print out stocks and shares for example? Will luxury brands ever consider selling high priced items through vending machines?
