“Party in a box” is a package sent out to guests across the United States, letting you share your get together with your loved ones living far away. Those who receive the kit have to send back a photo portraying themselves having fun.
Why it matters
Despite distance, this kind of concept could encourage virtual connections. We can’t always celebrate some of the most important moments in our lives surrounded by everyone we care for the most. Is this unconventional way to celebrate at a distance the new tangible way of bringing people closer in this deeply virtual era?
Pikup is a new software tool for iPhone, iPad and Mac. Once installed, it registers what music, eBooks, videos or podcast you consume. At the end of the month it analyses your media behaviour and that of all other people using the same software tool. The tool then proposes you pay a small monthly subscription to support the arts and your contribution is split proportionally between the artists you’ve listened to.
The Marigny theatre has set an innovative media operation in Paris. To promote the new play Miam Miam (i.e. Yummy), it has placed removable food plates on the advertising billboards. Those who pick them up and present them to the theatre desk can get a 15% discount on their tickets.
