Lessons to learn

Lessons to learn
The School Book Bank promotes the reuse of school books by receiving and delivering used school books for free. Having the “free” part as a principle of honor, all books or services provided have no cost attached. People who join the bank must volunteer to give a “ride” to the books from one place to another. This avoids incurring any delivery expenses.
Why it matters

A study by the Centre of Educational Resources concluded that the Portuguese state would need to spend 104 million euros to start up a school book loan system. On top of the environmental benefits of reusing,  will this be a way of teaching children the principle of sharing, saving and using books as something precious rather than a disposable object?

Dubai cares, one brick at a time

Dubai cares, one brick at a time

Dubai Cares is a UAE-based philanthropic organization helping to provide children access to quality primary education in developing countries.

Why it matters

In this case, the message is literally “with every donation, there is a brick being added”. People donating can see a tangible outcome in real-time and appreciate how their donation is making a difference. Will brands consider this successful activation campaign as a benchmark - where consumer’s experience the product rather than simply see a promotional message about it?

Finding a mate that looks like you

Finding a mate that looks like you

“Find Your FaceMate” is a new online dating site that employs high-level facial recognition software and a proprietary algorithm to identify our best likely partner. It’s based on the assumption that we relate to someone whose facial features are similar to our own.

Why it matters

Does this project demonstrate how bored consumers are about their lives today, only responding to mindless and indifferent choices? Are consumers just looking for products that think for them?
