Avatar social networking
Social networking is being joined by virtual reality characters. Computer games like World of Warcraft now allow your virtual avatar to connect with other avatars from other games via social networks with the potential to connect with people in the future.
Why it matters
The line between the real and virtual self is becoming blurred. As avatar audiences online grow, will brands need to adapt their target market, marketing to a virtual reality audience?
Banking on the environment
“Banking on Green” is an agreement between Fiat and Deutsche Bank for the supply of 140 Punto EVO Natural Power cars, that will be used across the whole Deutsche Bank Italian network.
Why it matters
Deutsche Bank are effectively using their employees as driving billboards. As companies continue to find more ways of preventing climate change, will we see new communication channels open up? Will we see branded front doors of employee solar powered homes?
Introducing the credit key ring
Garanti have launched the contactless credit card Bonus Trink, which can take the form of a key ring or a watch. It allows you to spend up to €18 at Burger King and Starbucks amongst other retailers with a single touch. No need for PINs or signatures.
Why it matters
You know you’re living in a time poor society when innovative products that save people mere seconds prove popular. As our increasing pace of life outdates traditional transactions, the pressure’s on for brands to keep up. Will we soon see the death of the credit card if we can already pay with our watches?
